For your “tool” box

Happy Holiday Season Everyone!!

I was recently approached by a friend of mine asking about hot tools. She wondered if the professional, more expensive, tools were really worth the investment.

Since it is the gift giving/receiving season, perhaps it would be helpful to share my thoughts about investing in quality blow dryers, flat irons and curling irons. Is it worth the extra money to buy professional, high quality tools? In a word, absolutely!

Let me share with you the differences in, for instance, a $20 flat iron and a $100 flat iron. The higher quality tool has a heat setting that is essential for manually adjusting the heat from the plates. If you have finer, more delicate or damaged hair, you must be able to dial down the heat to keep from burning and breaking your hair. Also, the quality of the plates of the flat iron make a huge difference in heat distribution, therefore, maintaining the integrity and condition of your hair.

As for blow dryers, the same rules apply. A higher quality dryer evenly distributes heat and air. It will feature better filtration, and most likely will be ionic.

Here are a few name brands of hot tools that are worth the extra cash….

These tools are available through your haircare professional, and at many retailers.

Have a great Holiday season, Happy shopping!!

Take care

It’s 2017, and we are in a new age of wellness. As I’m sure everyone has noticed, there is a new and fabulous trend including using and consuming the best and most pure products.

After decades of over consumption and production of fake food and over “chemicaled ” products, we are finally turning a corner and realizing that our bodies are much happier with REAL food a REAL ingredients. We are taking better care of our bodies and educating ourselves in wellness.

The industries are all taking notice of this switch, and some are providing products that meet our exacting standards. This is very exciting to see ,both as a consumer of food, vitamins…, and also, as a stylist using hair care and skin care products with the best and safest ingredients.

Its so important to take care of yourself from the inside out, both for health and beauty. Eating well, excersise and caring for your skin will reward you during the aging process.

There are several haircare product lines I am particularly loving right now, for their clean ingredient list, and the absence of parabens, sulfates, gluten, and some are also vegan. None test on animals and are non harmful to the environment. Purology, Kevin Murphy, Aveda, and REF are all wonderfully simple and pure products.

If you have any questions about these products or are interested in reading more information, all of them have fabulous websites, and as always, a hair professional in the salon will be glad to assist and answer questions.

So, my take away on this subject is simple, Take care of your body, and it will take care of you!
