For your “tool” box

Happy Holiday Season Everyone!!

I was recently approached by a friend of mine asking about hot tools. She wondered if the professional, more expensive, tools were really worth the investment.

Since it is the gift giving/receiving season, perhaps it would be helpful to share my thoughts about investing in quality blow dryers, flat irons and curling irons. Is it worth the extra money to buy professional, high quality tools? In a word, absolutely!

Let me share with you the differences in, for instance, a $20 flat iron and a $100 flat iron. The higher quality tool has a heat setting that is essential for manually adjusting the heat from the plates. If you have finer, more delicate or damaged hair, you must be able to dial down the heat to keep from burning and breaking your hair. Also, the quality of the plates of the flat iron make a huge difference in heat distribution, therefore, maintaining the integrity and condition of your hair.

As for blow dryers, the same rules apply. A higher quality dryer evenly distributes heat and air. It will feature better filtration, and most likely will be ionic.

Here are a few name brands of hot tools that are worth the extra cash….

Babyliss
Bio ionic
GHD
Paul Mitchell
Chi
Rusk
These tools are available through your haircare professional, and at many retailers.

Have a great Holiday season, Happy shopping!!
